Miss Tash has been working very hard with the children for the World Around Us Club. Today we finally got to hang our “Beautiful Brisbane” River Mural.
We added some of Brisbane’s iconic landmarks to our mural which included: Southbank and the Ferris wheel, Brisbane Airport, Nundah State School, Fuel and Co (coffee shop across from Nundah SS), and the Story Bridge. We used the iPad to try and scale the landmarks to the map as best we could and looked at images for inspiration. This added a research element to our activity. The children were creative in their endeavours to paint the city. An airplane and tarmacs were included for the airport and roads were linked to the storey bridge. This attention to detail makes the mural pop and draws the eye in. We are all stoked with the final result.
The river is an adaption of the rainbow serpent from the dreaming time.
This now sits proudly displayed in the hall for everyone to see and admire.
